Dr. Timothy S. Brophy, Professor of Music Education and UF Director of Institutional Assessment, has published a chapter on the University of Florida Assessment System in the new book Enhancing Assessment in Higher Education: Putting Psychometrics to Work. Edited by Tammie Cumming (City University of New York – New York City College of Technology) and M. David Miller (University of Florida), the book features 10 chapters by leading experts in psychometrics and institutional assessment. The volume focuses on the importance of validity, reliability and fairness in assessment in higher education.
Brophy’s chapter is one of three case studies of institutional assessment processes and the degree to which these technical components are addressed at the institutional level. His chapter describes the assessment system that Brophy has developed for the University of Florida and how it is operationalized.
The book is published by Stylus, and has been endorsed by the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the Association of American College and Universities (AAC&U).
