Learning Disabilities Specialist from Spain Visits UF

Trumpeter Jordi Albert, a learning disabilities specialist with relation to focal dystonia, presented masterclasses and a Power-Point presentation on learning disabilities to the University of Florida (UF) Trumpet Studio and UF music students. The soon-to-be Dr. Albert worked with the trumpet studio to help them achieve a healthy balance in sound production and in their approach to the instrument. In his informative presentation he discussed that many performers experience some type of learning disability that can be mislabeled as focal dystonia. With the proper approach and training, these learning difficulties can be overcome by experiencing the proper feeling of motion.
