352Creates invites Gainesville to get creative

By Chaz May

352Creates, a project presented by the UF Center for Arts in Medicine and the UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine program, held their second annual arts celebration at Depot Park on March 24 & 25.

This two-day event invited the community to explore and try new forms of art. Numerous Gainesville groups came together to invite participants to unleash their creativity. Organizations, such as the Inisheer Irish Dance Company, Self Narrate, The Hippodrome State Theatre and UF’s Theatre Strike Force offered ways for the community to get involved rather than just observing.

“It was exciting to see so many people came out to enjoy and participate in the arts,” Matt Henao, a senior BA theatre student at UF said. “This event truly sparked people’s imaginations.”

The event featured an Imagination Station where the community could unleash their creativity with hands-on projects, such as making paper, puppets, terrariums and crowns.
